AJ Baker of Wanderers and NNs

OK, here's one to start off this forum, going right back to the early days.

AJ Baker was a prominent player in the 1860s and early 1870s, he played for NNs of Kilburn and Wanderers. Also a good athlete, he won the 100 yards championship in 1870. Has anyone confirmed his identity?

I am on the track of an Alfred Joseph Baker, born 1846, brought up in Kilburn, ran a prosperous business, sent a son to Harrow, died 1900 - so he ticks the boxes for age, location and social class. But I have yet to make a direct link between him and the footballer.

Any ideas?

Just in case anyone is still using this forum ( :D ) I have confirmed that this is indeed the right Baker. The address at his marriage tallies with the address he gave to the newspapers when he was organising the unofficial England football teams.

Came to a sorry end: he was running to catch his train at Willesden Junction, and fell down dead on the platform.
